Final Fantasy VII Remake sells more than 5 million copies

Final Fantasy VII Remake was one of the most anticipated titles of the year. Now that the JRPG has been in the market for a few months, Square Enix showed off its sales on PlayStation 4. As you can imagine, the return of Cloud and company was a commercial success.

To put this in perspective, you should know that Final Fantasy VII Remake broke the franchise's sales record, surpassing the initial sales of Final Fantasy XV, the most recent main installment of the saga.

As if that weren't enough, the remake was also the best-selling title on the PlayStation Store during April. The JRPG even managed to momentarily outperform games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Grand Theft Auto V. Now, Square Enix once again celebrated the sales of the game.

Through their social networks, Square Enix thanked PlayStation 4 users for all the support they have given Final Fantasy VII Remake. The company took the opportunity to reveal that the JRPG has already sold more than 5 million copies globally.

Square Enix considers that the remake was a success, since it debuted in April and in a few months it managed to reach that important sales figure. On the other hand, the developer highlighted that Final Fantasy VII Remake is one of its most successful digital premieres.

To be more precise, Final Fantasy VII Remake is Square Enix's best-selling digital game on a PlayStation platform in history. The title debuted during the pandemic, so its success on the PS Store is no surprise.

On the other hand, it is worth remembering that, of the total sales, 3.5 million copies were sold during the first 3 days of its release. Of this figure, just over 1 million units were sold in Japan.

Square Enix confirmed that it is already working on the second part of the JRPG. The study plans are for the next chapter to surpass the first installment in every way. Fans are a bit concerned, as it is not known when it will debut, especially since the pandemic affected the pace of development.
